As Southwest Washington's representative in Congress, I want to keep you up-to-date on my work to improve life in our region. In the newsletter below, you will find my most recent update. If you have any questions or comments for me, please send me a direct message here.
Southwest Washington commuter voices needed in I-5 bridge process
In order for the I-5 bridge project to succeed and truly serve our region, there must be an agreement on project plans from both sides of the river.
This means one state shouldn't dictate to another about what the project should or shouldn't include – yet, we're hearing calls of "light rail or bust" for the next I-5 bridge. This same stubborn, top-down attitude effectively killed the last I-5 bridge replacement effort, and there's a good chance it fails again if the same mistakes are repeated.
I-5 commuter listening session:
The I-5 Bridge Replacement Program is asking Southwest Washington commuters who regularly use the I-5 bridge to share their experiences and provide feedback in a listening session this month, April 22nd from 5:30 – 7:00PM. Register by clicking here.
How project leaders decide to approach this important roadway will have impacts for many years to come – so please take the time to participate so Southwest Washington commuter voices are heard loud and clear.
Addressing our region's housing shortage
Our nation’s housing crisis, plus the effects of COVID, have hit our communities particularly hard. Finding solutions to meet Southwest Washington’s needs is a top priority of mine, and it’s why I’ve introduced bipartisan legislation – the Housing Supply and Affordability Act – to help increase affordable housing options for folks across our region. I'm continuing to add information on small business resources, COVID testing and vaccine locations, local health departments, unemployment benefits, and more on my COVID dedicated webpage: JHB.house.gov/coronavirus.
It's an honor to serve you in Congress. If you have a comment, question, or an idea for me, please send me a direct message here. As always, please let me know how I can assist you.
