As Southwest Washington's representative in Congress, I want to keep you up-to-date on my work to improve life in our region. If you have any questions or ideas to share with me, I welcome you to send me a direct message here.
Introducing legislation to protect Americans' constitutional rights
The Constitution’s 4th Amendment enshrines Americans' right to privacy, and with rapid advances in our technology, we should update our laws to protect those rights.
Recent reports have revealed federal agencies have been purchasing Americans' geolocation data – without first obtaining a warrant – to pinpoint their mobile device locations. This type of overreach violates 4th amendment protections and it’s why Congress should take action.
I’m introducing bipartisan legislation, called the No Trace Act, to force the government to follow due process and stop federal agencies from accessing law-abiding citizens' sensitive information, like geolocation data from a phone or an app, without first obtaining a warrant.
We recently celebrated 246 years of our United States Army. As we recognize this milestone, please join me in thanking and honoring the selfless men and women of the U.S. Army who support and defend our nation – thank you!
Helping increase safety of Southwest Washington schools
The safety of our Southwest Washington students is paramount, which is why I'm helping introduce bipartisan legislation that expands schools' ability to utilize on-site school resource officers, and also have silent alarms connected directly to local law enforcement.
Congress should continue taking commonsense steps to make student safety a top priority. Click here to read more.
Expanding telehealth access in Southwest Washington
Ensuring folks who live in Southwest Washington, and especially those in rural and remote communities, have access to health care is a top priority of mine. One of the ways we can accomplish this is by ensuring folks can use telehealth when they decide it's the best option for them. For many health-related services, telehealth has been incredibly effective tool for seniors and rural residents in the last 15 months.
That's why I recently cosponsored a bill in Congress, called the Connect for Health Act, which expands access to telehealth services and strengthens support for health care providers. I'm going to continue looking for commonsense solutions in Congress to ensure folks in our region have access to high quality, affordable health care. Click here to read more.
It's an honor to serve you in Congress. If you have a comment, question, or an idea for me, please send me a direct message here. As always, please let me know how I can assist you.
