Jaime Herrera Beutler Helps Secure Funding to Complete Ridgefield’s Gee Creek Trail
Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler today applauded an announcement by the U.S. Department of Transportation that the City of Ridgefield will be receiving a $1.2 million Federal Land Access Program (FLAP) grant to complete the north segment of the Gee Creek Trail, fully establishing and connecting existing segments of the Trail.
In December of 2020, Herrera Beutler wrote to the Department of Transportation, requesting the department accept the City of Ridgefield’s application for the FLAP grant.
“I’m pleased to have successfully helped Ridgefield secure this grant to better connect folks to the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge through the completion of the north Gee Creek Trail segment. It’s always an honor to help return Southwest Washington taxpayer dollars to help with efforts like this that are supported by and benefit our community, and enhance the ability of more residents and visitors to enjoy this unique urban wildlife refuge,” Herrera Beutler said.
“We are so excited to secure federal funding to complete this community asset that will connect waterfront, wildlife refuge, and neighborhoods, and we are grateful to Congresswoman Herrera Beutler for her continued support and engagement at the federal level,” Ridgefield Mayor Don Stose said.
