Jaime Herrera Beutler Secures Federal Funding for Hood River Bridge Replacement Project
$5 million in BUILD Grant will help advance replacement of Hood River/White Salmon Interstate Bridge
Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA-03) today applauded an announcement by the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) that the Port of Hood River Project will be receiving a $5 million Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant for design work to rebuild the Hood River/White Salmon Interstate Bridge.
As a senior member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, Herrera Beutler helped secure funding for this BUILD grant, which will be used to fund engineering and other supporting studies for the replacement of the Hood River/White Salmon Interstate Bridge. In addition, Herrera Beutler worked with USDOT earlier this year, urging a BUILD grant be put in place to fund design work associated with replacing the nearly 100-year-old bridge.
“I’m pleased to have secured funds to advance the process of restoring and rebuilding the nearly 100-year-old bridge on which so many folks in White Salmon, Bingen, and other communities in Southwest Washington rely. I was honored to help secure these federal dollars as a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, and it’s great to see crucial steps being made on this long-overdue project,” Herrera Beutler said.
