Jaime Herrera Beutler Applauds CARES Act Funding for Vancouver Affordable Housing

More than $2 million in COVID-19 relief will go to protect vulnerable residents, public housing in Vancouver

Today, Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA-03) applauded an announcement by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) that more than $2 million in CARES Act funding will go to affordable housing in Vancouver to protect vulnerable residents during COVID-19.

Herrera Beutler helped secure this critical funding for the Housing Authority of the City of Vancouver from her position as a senior member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee.

“COVID-19 has impacted folks across Southwest Washington, but especially those who rely on affordable housing to put a roof over their heads,” Herrera Beutler said. “I worked in Congress to ensure critical programs like the Housing Authority of Vancouver could continue to assist vulnerable citizens with a place to live, and am pleased to see these funds bolster its efforts.”

The Housing Authority of the City of Vancouver is receiving $2,050,488 in funding, which will provide critical protections for vulnerable residents, including the purchase of cleaning supplies, increased access to health services for families, and additional costs for supportive services related to COVID-19.
