U.S. Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler was selected yesterday to serve in leadership on the U.S. House Appropriations Committee. Jaime will serve as the Ranking Member of the Appropriations Legislative Branch Subcommittee for the 116th Congress.

The Appropriations Committee is comprised of 12 subcommittees, and as a senior member of the committee, Jaime was appointed as the Republican lead of the Legislative Branch Subcommittee that has jurisdiction over funding for the Capitol Police, Congressional Budget Office, Government Accountability Office, the Library of Congress, and many other government departments.

“It is an honor to continue serving Southwest Washington in Congress, especially now as a leader on the House Appropriations Committee that sets spending levels across the federal government. With this new assignment, I will fight to hold the government accountable, save taxpayer dollars, and increase transparency of how those dollars are spent,” Jaime said. “In this leadership role, I’ll make sure that the U.S. Capitol is a safe, responsive and open place for Congress to do the people’s business, and as accessible as possible for folks from Southwest Washington and across the country to visit.”
