Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA-03) sent a letter to Vice President Mike Pence, who is leading the novel coronavirus – COVID-19 task force, urging the Administration to work with Congress, drug makers and other stakeholders to ensure there is a limited impact on the supply of personal protection equipment, medical devices and prescription drugs during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus. Jaime also asked for more information so that Congress can support efforts to improve accuracy and access to novel coronavirus tests for individuals exhibiting symptoms of the virus.
The rising cost of prescription drugs is forcing seniors and other patients to take drastic measures in Southwest Washington. It’s not uncommon for me to hear from folks who are skipping doses, cutting pills in half or foregoing filling prescriptions altogether.
